Wind Dynamics as a Fluid System
My foundational fascination with fluid dynamics isn't restricted to calculations or bench work; I live it outdoors. I have been flying kites since I was 10 years old. This lifelong tracking has granted me an intuitive reading of atmospheric wind gradients, boundary layer turbulence, and soft foil behavior across the sky window.
Evolution Across Systems
- Structured Airfoils: Extensive background piloting classic single-line setups (tracking structural shape stability), dual-line stunting sails (speed and spatial trajectory routing), and advanced quad-line configurations (absolute pitch control, tail slides, and inverted hovering).
- Land Traction: Harnessing high-force powerkites (open foil cells) to drive land-based speed crafts, navigating heavy setups like kite buggies and off-road mountainboards.
- Kitesurfing: Active rider since I turned 36. This discipline pushes fluid mechanics to its limits, balancing the hydrodynamic drag of a board against the lifting vector of closed-cell ram-air or inflatable leading-edge marine kites.
